Sunday/1st full day in Myanmar

Today we went to the Shwedagon Pagoda (huge Yangon Buddhist temple) and spent 3+ hours exploring, meditating and taking pictures.

There was even a group of locals giving out free rice soup bowls in a crowded mess hall type structure within the Pogada compound. I was amazed by how much I stood out and really enjoyed being the center of many local's smiles and laughter as I sat on the floor amongst hundreds of Burmese eating our soup.
Before leaving the pagoda, Pete and I reconnected. We were separated earlier in the day but came together again on a marble stair of one of the many altars in the compound and started sharing stories of our experiences. We were joined by a (one of the many) walking monk who I noticed cruising around throughout the day. His name is Variswammi. He walked up randomly and we spent a good hour talking life &  Buddhism. Before we parted he extended an invitation to join he and his fellow monks at the Buddhist University, meditation center on the outskirts of town where they live. He gave us his card!;)  We agreed wholeheartedly and confirmed a time for the following day.

The walk home consisted of numerous stops to consume Burmese food.
            Nothing bad about this!

 Early to bed!
